Closing the gap

I've fallen behind.  Now for some catching up!

Enjoyed a fun weekend in DC for my brother's graduation.  Tried biking, drafted this guy...decided it was better to take some time off the bike while in the city.  Instead enjoyed a great weekend with my family on foot.

After graduation, headed north to beautiful New England!  Really happy to be home with my family and see some friends too, including Steve Weller...my favorite coach!    (http://belllapcoaching.com/)  As always, my bike and I stopped by Joe's Garage (my favorite shop!) to visit with Joe and give the bike some attention before I was off to race Tour of Somerville in NJ with Debony.  Our weekend of riding and racing was a blast.

Race was good and I felt good.  I was also more aggressive than I usually am in the last laps when the going got crazy.  I was pleased with that improvement and that I kept some composure when I was getting pushed around.  Wasn't enough through the last two turns after avoiding a crash and a VERY long finish straight.  Finished 19th for SKINourishment p/b Paceline Projects.

The perfect post-race treat in NJ...

That's it for now... the Glencoe Grand Prix up next!

Speedweek

This past week was a great way to kick off the 2014 racing season!  Five races starting in Athens, GA and eventually making our way to Gaffney, SC to conclude USA Crits Speedweek.

The highlights:

Racing crits after a long off-season.  Felt great to be out there again for SKINourishment p/b Paceline Projects.  Gambler's prime was a nice added bonus.  (women's race starts about an hour in... at 1:52 you can check out the prime and the finish of the race.)

Spending time with awesome folks and four-legged friends.

Fun school visit with Fearless Feme.  The kids taught me a new dance move which I plan on busting out at the Glencoe Grand Prix post-race block party.

The food mention.....Strawberries...

My study buddy... studying for final exams and racing Speedweek wasn't exactly easy...I appreciated her company.

Good birthday times.  Love those crazy peppers and I dig my new saucy shirt.
